Under the main theme “Collaboration in TVET ” the conference will be organized along the sub-themes:

1. Cooperation between TVET institutions and the corporate sector for improving the quality and relevance of TVET
TVET institutions need the close contact to the corporate sector first of all in order to adapt their curricula and shape their education and training offers according to the needs of the labour market. They also need it to assure that TVET teachers do not loose their contact to the world of work, to offer their students work experience in a real-world work environment, to receive support, be it in terms of material resources like finances and equipment, or in terms of guest teachers with up-to-date knowledge on technology and work organisation, and to facilitate their graduates’ entrance in the labour market.

2. Transparency and comparability of TVET qualifications
With increasing workforce mobility, both nationally and internationally, transparency and comparability of TVET qualifications is a crucial issue for job-seekers when marketing their competences, as well as for employers when looking for the workforce they need. Appropriate occupational standards and the credible certification of competences against them is one of the possible means to create such transparency and comparability, but maybe not the only one. In any case the stakeholders in the TVET system like government, industry, TVET institutions and TVET research have to work together and coordinate their respective efforts for the benefit of workers, industries, and society.

3. TVET research and development as a contribution to the knowledge base for TVET system and TVET quality development
Actors in the TVET system need soundly created and verified research results, on which they can base their decisions on future activities in order to maximise the likelihood of success. Research in a complex system like TVET always needs the collaboration of different partners, while TVET research institutions like universities are predetermined to conceptionalize and lead such research. Research topics range from the identification of critical issues on which more knowledge is needed, via the identification of changes in workplace requirements, down to the optimal layout of learning environments. Considering the immense importance of TVET-qualified work for society, economy and environment, increased efforts in knowledge creation and knowledge exchange are required at the regional, national and international levels.

4. Possibly special themes introduced by organizers of special workshop sessions

Individuals or institutions are invited to organize their special workshop session in the framework of the 2nd UPI International Conference on TVET. Special sessions might be dedicated to a specifically pressing issue to be discussed intensively in a group of experts, to discussing progress or results of a specific project or network, to plan future activities among a group of individuals or institutions, and the like. Special workshop organizers and participants will have the opportunity to meet and to exchange ideas with other expert participants of the conference.
